Albertsons LLC Southwest Division Raises more than $300,000 for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Two Month Fundraising Campaign Held to Help JDRF Find a Cure for Diabetes TOLLESON, Ariz—December 12, 2007 –Albertsons LLC’s Southwest Division announced today their stores located in Arizona, New Mexico, and El Paso, TX, raised $304,846.00 during their two month-long Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) fundraising campaign in support of the JDRF Walks to Cure Diabetes. The funds raised from the initiative will be used toward JDRF’s mission: to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through the support of research and research related education. The company also donated an estimated $36,000 in product to provide breakfast and lunch for the 33,000 walkers and volunteers at the JDRF Walks in Phoenix and Tucson, AZ and Albuquerque, NM. Combined, these 3 walks raised more than $3 million for diabetes research.
DIVISION PROFILE
Albertsons-Osco has been working hard to be the favorite grocery store in the Southwest division, which spans Arizona, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas. The Southwest Division of Albertsons LLC is made up of 80 Albertsons-Osco food and drug stores and 24 Albertsons Express fuel centers, and their Tolleson, Arizona-based Distribution Center. The division employs over 8,700 associates.
At Albertsons, our communities mean a great deal, and in 2006 Albertsons donated over $800,000 dollars to organizations that benefit youth and education through our Community Partners program and grassroots outreach at our stores. Albertsons partners with Second Harvest Food Banks in the division through food donations, and is actively involved in raising funds for hunger relief every day through Food For All. Albertsons, our customers, and vendors partner with the Muscular Dystrophy Association through our annual Shamrock sales and last year raised over $130,000 to benefit Jerry’s Kids. The Southwest division is also an avid supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and last year, raised over $200,000 to support finding a cure for Juvenile diabetes.
