| DIVISION PROFILE |
One of Joe Albertson’s long-standing beliefs was “The tracks you make today will be the road tomorrow,” and it’s evident in not only how he lived his life but also in how he grew his company. Albertsons’ Food & Drug Stores may have had their beginnings in Idaho in 1939, but our founder Joe Albertson’s own beginning was in Yukon, Oklahoma 33 years earlier. Joe’s family moved from Oklahoma in 1909, and the tracks that led him from Oklahoma to Idaho paved the road back to that area of the country in the early 1980s when he built the foundation for what is now the Dallas-Fort Worth division of Albertsons LLC.
Albertsons has been working hard to be the favorite grocery store in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas communities since that time. The Dallas/Fort Worth Division of Albertsons LLC is made up of 141 Albertsons-Savon food and drug stores, 58 Albertsons Express fuel centers and two Distribution Centers. The division employs over 14,000 associates in markets including Dallas/Fort Worth, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Midland/Odessa, Austin, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette, LA. The mainline grocery distribution center, located in Fort Worth occupies 1.1 million square feet and services all the stores in the four state area. The sundries and general merchandise warehouse is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma and services Albertsons stores and pharmacies in all twelve Albertson's LLC states.
At Albertsons, our communities mean a great deal, and in 2006 Albertsons donated over $1.5 million dollars to organizations that benefit youth and education through our Community Partners program and grassroots outreach at our stores. Albertsons partners with Second Harvest Food Banks in the 4 state area through food donations and are presenting sponsors of the Tarrant Area Food Bank's Adios Hunger, North Texas Food Bank's Hunger Awareness Day, and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma's Letter Carrier Food Drive. In Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Fort Worth select stores participate in a Fresh Rescue program where food banks are able to pick up fresh products they need the most including meat and produce. Albertsons, our customers, and vendors partner with the Muscular Dystrophy Association through our annual Shamrock sales, Aisles of Smiles, and Dallas/Fort Worth Muscle Team Celebration and last year Albertsons donated $250,000 to MDA
