Albertson’s LLC to Acquire Alton Road City Market Location

October 15, 2009 – Fort Worth, TX — Albertson’s LLC announced today that it intends to acquire City Market’s Fort Worth location on the corner of Alton and Biddison Roads in the Westcliff area near Texas Christian University.  The transaction is expected to close later this month.

 “Albertsons is excited to be opening a new location to serve the Westcliff, TCU and surrounding neighborhoods in Fort Worth,” said William Emmons, Dallas-Fort Worth division president. “We have provided the residents in this area one of the best shopping experiences Fort Worth has to offer since 1994, and we look forward to being able to open this store quickly when the transaction closes.”

On the date of the transaction close, the company plans to close and then re-open the store as Albertsons the next morning. “We know it’s aggressive to close a location one day and reopen the next day,” said Emmons. “We want to provide the customers in this area with as brief an interruption in service as possible.” 

The company has budgeted to remodel the location while it operates to update the overall store.  It will offer quality produce, meat and seafood, as well as specialty bakery and deli items, and will continue its pharmacy operations.

Today, Albertsons operates 86 stores throughout Texas, nine of which are in the city of Fort Worth.  The DFW Division currently operates 98 stores in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.  This transaction is expected to be complete later this month.

Albertson’s LLC aims to become the favorite food and drug retailer in every market it serves.  The company employs more than 20,000 associates and operates under the Albertsons banner in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas.
