1960s
Joe Albertson forms a partnership with Sam Skaggs of Osco Drug Centers, creating the first combination food and drug store.
1970s
The Skaggs and Albertsons partnership dissolves, and Skaggs acquires Acme Stores – creating the American Drug Stores entity.
1980s
Jewel Companies acquired Sav-on drugs before being acquired itself by American Stores Company.
1990s
In 1998, fate brought old partners Albertsons and Skaggs together again as Albertsons teamed up with American Stores Company.
In 2006, Albertson’s LLC acquired the Albertsons stores in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, South Dakota and Wyoming.
